Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon bacon grease (or oil)
- 1 pound ground pork sausage
- 1 tube (13.8 ounces) refrigerated pizza crust
- 1 package (8 ounces) shredded Italian blend cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a large (at least 11-by-17-inch) baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large skillet, cook and crumble the pork sausage in bacon grease until no longer pink; drain excess grease and allow to cool slightly.
- Remove the pizza crust from the container and stretch it out to form a rectangle on the parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
- Spoon the cooked sausage evenly over the crust.
- Sprinkle evenly with the shredded cheese.
- Carefully roll up the crust lengthwise (similar to how you would for cinnamon rolls), and seam closed.
- Making sure the roll is seam-side down on the baking sheet, brush the entire exposed surface with the beaten egg.
- Place the pan into the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until beautifully browned and cooked through.
- Remove from oven and allow the loaf to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
- Enjoy as is for brunch or serve alongside scrambled eggs or a salad.
