Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1/2 teaspoon taco seasoning
- 1 cup whole milk
- 6 ounces shredded medium cheddar cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter.
- Add the flour and taco seasoning and whisk until the mixture becomes bubbly and foamy.
- Continue cooking and whisking the mixture for about a minute.
- Whisk the milk into the flour and butter mixture, turning up the heat slightly to allow the milk to come to a simmer while whisking.
- Once thickened enough to coat a spoon, turn off the heat.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar, one handful at a time, until melted into the sauce. If the sauce becomes too thick, simply whisk in an additional splash of milk.
- Stir in the black pepper and any other additional seasonings, to taste.
- Serve hot with chips or over a plate of nachos.
